Venue and Setting
The 18th GCSM will take place at the Production Technology Centre (PTZ), which integrates Technische Universität Berlin, Institut für Werkzeugmaschinen und Fabrikbetrieb (IWF) and Fraunhofer Institut für Produktionsanlagen und Konstruktionstechnik (IPK). At PTZ, a manifold of projects on innovative value creation, with special reference to manufacturing technology and management, are carried out. The development of new processes, tools, and products related to business models as well as new means of learning and teaching are part of PTZ´s daily activities. Synergies between experienced research, teaching staff and young students characterize the environment at the centre.

The entrepreneurial activity is diverse, including IT, chemical, electrical and mechanical engineering, service and logistics. The dynamic service sector contributes to an increasingly networked value creation. Berlin has become a melting pot of nationalities from all over the globe. Based on centuries long tradition of integrating skilled people from European countries, and especially after the fall of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of Germany from all over the world, an atmosphere of innovation and entrepreneurial outbreak coins the atmosphere of the region. Young personalities, highly motivated for challenging activities, come to Berlin for networking and shaping action paths for their future lives and professional careers. In this context, innovative high-tech businesses and a huge number of start-ups of all kind progressively come into existence. Museums of arts, history and technology, theatres and opera houses create a rich cultural scene.
