15.2.2015 | Micro-Cosmos Vietnam Emerging countries manufacture a major part of so-called light industry products, such as textiles, leather, wooden or plastic parts. Low costs due to low wages and conventional equipment characterize many manufacturing sites. At the same time customers worldwide become increasingly aware of the ecological and social conditions under which products are created.
Vietnam is considered a very-attractive destination for light industries. However, this affects the social and environmental conditions of the country. Vietnam´s further growth demands improved infrastructure, technical capabilities and capacity building on all levels. Companies need to innovate their processes and acquire expertise in product design and quality management. A transparent design of global supply chains helps communicating advantages to quality-oriented customers worldwide.
The conference wants to bridge the gap between industrialized and emerging countries. Innovative technologies, their local applications and societal implications are discussed. Innovative solutions and best practices from Vietnam in areas, like resource efficiency and effectiveness, recycling and remanufacturing, innovative business models or examples for industrial symbiosis, are supposed to give the participants a holistic view on the multitude of technological opportunities which can foster prosperity through global collaboration and competition.
