Airport Information

Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG):

  • Approximately 50 km to Tongji University and Hotels Kingswell, Holiday Inn Express Shanghai Wujiaochang and Crown Plaza Shanghai Fudan.
  • Driving time should be around 60 min. However, in case of heavy traffic, approximately 90 min should be calculated.
Transfer to Tongji University and Kingswell Hotel:
Option 1:

It is recommended to use public transportation, it is fast, effective and all indications are also in English:

  • Take the “Maglev” train from airport to “Longyang Road” station. You will see the sign “Maglev Station” midway between Terminal 1 and 2 of the airport. The last Maglev Train leaves at 21:40.
  • There you will find the ticket counter. Buy a one-way ticket for 50 RMB. You can pay cash or by Credit Card incl. Union Pay. It is a ride for memories! Depending on time of day the travel speed is up to 430 km/h.
  • Keep your magnetic ticket safe. When leaving the final station “Longyang Road”, you'll have to insert it at the exit.
  • At the “Longyang Road” station, you will see the signs for Shanghai Metro. Buy a ticket from ticket machine: First select English. It is indicated at top right corner of the screen. Then select “Line 2” in the line below and click “Tongji University” on the screen. The ticket costs 4 RMB. If you are one person, select 1 and insert 4x 1 RMB coins or banknote. You will receive the magnetic ticket and your change.
  • Then take the Line 2, direction “East Xujing” first. The last train leaves at 23:11. After 6 stations, get out at “East Nanjing Road” and move to “Line 10” direction “Xinjiangwancheng”. After 6 stations, you’ll arrive at “Tongji University”.
  • Take “Exit 2“. After leaving the station, you will see McDonalds in front of you. To your back you’ll see the entrance of Tongji University, where the venue takes place.
  • Walk ahead and pass by some small food shops. After about 250 steps, you will find Hotel Kingswell at the right side.

The ride with the metro takes 40-50 min. Don’t worry if you miss one train, the train leaves every 3-5 minutes.

Note: Instead of Maglev Train you can also take Metro “Line 2” from Airport to “Longyang Road” station. But it takes longer.


Option 2:

After “Longyang Road” station, you can take a taxi.

Option 3:

Take a taxi from airport. This is recommended after the operating hours of the trains. During daytime there usually is heavy traffic and you’ll pay a lot while waiting in traffic jams.

 

Transfer to the Hotels Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza:

It is recommended to take taxi at “Longyang Road”, as there is no metro station close to these hotels. It would take around 30 min.

From these two hotels, there will be a shuttle service to Tongji University.

Note: When going by taxi, follow taxi signs and take a taxi from taxi line. Do not accept private taxis. In this case, you should have the Chinese name of the hotel for safety. You can find it online or you can contact the hotel directly (http://www.sdlm.cn/En/HotelReservation.aspx?ExCode=649).

Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (SHA):

  • Approximately 35 km to Tongji University, Hotels Kingswell, Holiday Inn Express Shanghai Wujiaochang and Crown Plaza Shanghai Fudan.
  • Driving time should be around 35 min. However, in case of heavy traffic, approximately 90 min should be calculated.
Transfer to Tongji University and Kingswell Hotel:
Option 1:

It is recommended to use public transportation, it is fast, effective and all indications are also in English:

  • Look for Metro “Line 10” to “Xinjiangwancheng”.
  • Buy a ticket from the ticket machine: First select “English”. It is indicated at top right corner of the screen. Then select “Line 10” in the line below and click “Tongji University” on the screen. The ticket costs 5 RMB. If you are one person select 1 and insert 5x 1 RMB coins or banknote. You will receive the magnetic ticket and your change.
  • Then take the Line 10, direction “Xinjiangwancheng”. After 20 stations (approx. 45 min) alight at “Tongji University”.
  • Take “Exit 2“. After leaving the station, you will see McDonalds in front of you. To your back, you see the entrance of Tongji University, where the venue takes place.
  • Walk ahead and pass by some small food shops. After about 250 steps, you will find Hotel Kingswell at the right side.

From these two hotels, there will be shuttle service to Tongji University.
